Dhoom 3 is an Indian action film. The movie is part of the Dhoom series. It is a Hindi-language film and was released on 17 May 2013. Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the film stars Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles while Abhishek Bachchan had a supporting role. The story follows a professional thief, played by Aamir Khan, who helps his son from being kidnapped before being pursued himself by three cops led by Katrina Kaif throughout Delhi to Mumbai, India. The film also features Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, Boman Irani and Jackie Shroff in supporting roles. The initial synopsis of the story was written by Vijay Krishna Acharya. It was further developed by Shoojit Sircar who gave it a political satire angle before being finalised by Farah Khan who made it an action comedy. The director of "Om Shanti Om", Farah Khan later attributed her decision to cast Katrina Kaif over Priyanka Chopra as the result of a dream she had about the two actresses fighting to star in the film. The director admitted that the story had been conceived during the release of "Om Shanti Om" (2007) and admitted to watching early cuts of "Om Shanti Om" which had a scene between Aamir Khan and Priyanka Chopra. The script was later given to director Vijay Krishna Acharya who developed it into a full-fledged screenplay while retaining the basic premise. The screenplay went through over twenty drafts until Acharya was satisfied enough to begin filming. In August 2010, media reports claimed that Shah Rukh Khan would be a part of the film, playing Katrina Kaif's antagonist. Khan later denied such reports, adding that he was not involved in the film. The following month, media sources claimed that Aamir Khan and Abhishek Bachchan would be seen together on screen after "Dhoom" (2004) and "" (2006). The two actors also denied such rumours and Acharya similarly clarified that there were no plans for a collaboration between the two. In January 2011, it was reported that Katrina Kaif had been offered a role in the film. Khan later confirmed Kaif's casting in early March stating that she had been cast as a female lead. He also revealed his excitement at working with her again after "Om Shanti Om" (2007). In August 2011, director Vijay Krishna Acharya revealed that the film was likely to go on floors before November and allow time for the actors to prepare. Later that month it was reported that Aamir Khan and Abhishek Bachchan were unwilling to shoot scenes for the film, citing their busy schedules. In October, Bachchan stated that he was not required at signing but acknowledged its production during an interview with "Filmfare". It was also revealed that Khan had purchased a house in Mumbai's Lower Parel area for his scenes to be shot at.
